What will happen in the opening sequence of 'The Walls Can Talk'

The opening sequence of The Walls Can Talk will aim to introduce the audience to a college teacher, who on the surface appears to live a very ordinary, controlled answer structured life. It will begin with establishing shots of the college at early morning, emphasising the quiet surrounds and empty corridors to help enforce the sense of isolation. The teacher will be shown on arrival at the college, walking through near silent corridors to create a sense of calm and routine.

As the teacher enters the classroom, they begin setting up for their day in a precise and controlled manner, aligning books, papers, and chairs. Suggesting an obsessive attention to details. Slow paced editing and low-key lighting paired with my soundtrack will help to create the tension and the ideology of something not quite right beneath the surface. As the sequence progresses, slight signs of psychological breakdown will begin to surface, featured in moments of uncomfortable silences, lighting shifts and distorted sound effects to interrupt the calmness of the routine and hint at the psychological instability they face. As the teacher begins to finish setting up for the first class, there will be subtle close ups of their facial expressions to hint at the struggle to maintain control

The intended effect on the audience to an unease and curiosity that is fostered through mine-en-scene, sound and editing. Whilst on the surface everything appears 'normal', the gradual introduction of unsettling details will start to allow the audience to question the mental state of the teacher and question what may happen later on in the film.
