For my Media Studies foundation coursework, I will be creating the opening sequence of a  film from a genre of my choice. The opening sequence will last approximately two minutes and will include titles as well as production company logos.

Before I decided on the genre I will be working within I will start to conduct some research and planning into the different types of opening sequences, looking at the opening scenes from a wide variety of genres. This will help me make an informed decision into the genre that I would like to work within, but crucially it will allow me to see any prevalent and consistent conventions of opening scenes that are prevalent regardless of genre that the film belongs to.

I will be posting me research and planning of different blog posts, which will eventually include research into idents, titles, fonts and typical film language used within the genre I choose.

Within the next few posts I create, I will be analyzing numerous opening scenes from a wide array of genres. From there I will outline the reoccurring conventions of opening scenes, further allowing me to ensure I have included them in my opening sequence to replicate authenticity as close as possible.
