Opening sequences and Enigma - Conclusion

Through my research into opening sequences, I have understood that the final purpose of them is to create an enigmatic experience for the audience. This is often created with the audience is thrown into events in at the beginning of a film without an explanation. This not only creates mystery but forces the audience to work even harder to make sense of the events and timeline of the film. This aspect of genre and opening sequences in common in specific genres, such as horror , dramas or thrillers, where it is the director's wish to disorientate the viewers.

I may use enigmatic techniques in my opening sequence, to disorientate my viewers, especially if I choose to work within the psychological thriller or psychological drama genre.
